Biosketch

Ruheena Sangrar, PhD OT Reg. (Ont.) is an Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream and Academic Coordinator, UTM in the Department of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy at the University of Toronto. She completed her doctoral training in the School of Rehabilitation Sciences at McMaster University in 2020, followed by post-doctoral training at the University of Manitoba’s Centre on Aging and at Laval University in the Department of Family Medicine and Emergency Medicine. Ruheena is also the Academic Coordinator of the MScOT program at our Mississauga campus.

As an occupational therapist, Ruheena has worked in multiple inpatient and outpatient hospital-based settings serving diverse older adult populations. Informed by principles of social accountability and structural competence, her educational scholarship focuses on advancing equity and justice considerations within the MScOT curriculum and learning environment. Her research and teaching interests are also aimed at developing interdisciplinary approaches to reduce barriers to community mobility, participation and belonging in later life, particularly at the intersection of health, social and transportation sectors.
