Interprofessional Education, Collaborative Competency Development

Professor Sylvia Langois is an Associate Professor and the Occupational Therapy Faculty Lead for the Interprofessional Education (IPE) Curriculum. She is the Associate Director, Academics at the Centre for Advancing Collaborative Healthcare and Education where she has responsibility for the leading the development, implementation, and evaluation of the IPE curriculum for the university health and social care programs. She serves as a Co-Editor of the Journal of Research in Interprofessional Practice and Education. Additionally, she is an Education Investigator 2  with The Institute for Education Research, a Wilson Centre Scholar, and is cross-appointed to the Institute for Life Course and Aging at the Factor Inwentash Faculty of Social Work.

Areas of Research / Educational Scholarship

Professor Langois' research focusses on interprofessional education approaches, assessment of collaborative competencies, and curricular evaluation. She has a particular interest in the engagement of those with lived experience in the IPE curriculum. Additionally, she has studied the value of engaging with the arts and humanities and its impact on collaborative competency development. Her research supported the refresh of the Canadian Interprofessional Health Collaborative Competency Framework for Advancing Collaboration.
