Curriculum Objectives
The objective of the professional master program is to prepare graduates who can:
- practice independently in a range of settings and in a variety of roles (for example, in interdisciplinary programs, in private practice, in primary health care settings, and as consultants and case managers)
- supervise rehabilitation assistants, OT aides or other support workers
- use principles of evidence-based practice to guide and evaluate service delivery
- contribute to research that will advance the knowledge base of the discipline
- assume management roles
- take leadership roles in the profession
- take leadership roles in health care and other sectors including social services, education and labour
- fill academic-practitioner positions
- pursue a PhD and careers in academia or clinical research, following some additional preparation
Research Objectives
The Department’s research is focused on occupation. In broad terms, the faculty’s research interests are:

- Social and Policy Contexts of Practice
