Professional Masters Financial Aid Bursary
Funds have been provided from the Faculty of Medicine to provide relief for students who encounter financial difficulty during their MScOT studies. Expenses must be reasonable costs directly related to completing current academic studies only. Recipients must be in the MScOT program and demonstrate financial need. The application will be emailed to students at least 2 weeks prior to the deadline.
It is recommended that students keep a copy of their completed bursary application to simplify completion of their next application. Non-Ontario students (i.e. those who do not qualify for an Ontario government student loan) must fill out the Enrolment Services Out-of-Province Needs Assessment form in order to be eligible for Departmental bursary programs. The reason for this is to securely collect additional information that Ontario-based students have already provided as part of their Ontario student loan application. We aim to treat all students, Ontario and non-Ontario students, equitably, during our bursary adjudication process.
The Department endeavours to ensure that sufficient funding remains available for the Winter and Summer sessions. The Program Manager can provide counselling and feedback on planning finances while at the University.
School of Graduate Studies
The SGS Summer Gym Bursary promotes graduate student wellness by offering students a reimbursement for up to 100% of their on-campus summer athletic membership fees.
Funds are awarded on the basis of financial need arising from unforeseen circumstances to students whose continuation in the program is in jeopardy for financial reasons. This bursary is NOT meant to be a source of long term funding for a student’s program but a bridge for temporary lack of funds.
Students should make an appointment with an SGS Financial Counsellor in order to request this grant (63 St. George Street, or 416-946-0808).
Loan Programs
Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP)
- The Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) provides eligible students with various types of assistance based on financial need. Students entering first year should apply to OSAP as soon as possible after they receive their letter of offer. Students entering second year in the fall should apply to OSAP as early as May.
- The Enrolment Services office at the University of Toronto can provide advice on your OSAP application and has access to your OSAP file if changes need to be made. Please contact Enrolment Services at 172 St. George Street. Alternatively, you can call 416-978-2190 or email osap.staff@utoronto.ca.
Government Funding for Non-Ontario Residents
- Students who are not from Ontario may be eligible for financial assistance from their provincial governments. Students should check with their provincial/territorial government for details. Non-Ontario loan questions can be directed to Enrolment Services at can.oop.financialaid@utoronto.ca.
Student Line of Credit
- Many banks, trust companies and credit unions offer students a line of credit. Enrolment Services at the University of Toronto maintains a list of known institutions offering a line of credit, typically those with an affinity relationship with the University. Students are free to choose their own lender. Please review Enrolment Services’ website on this topic.
Once a student is invited to register they are eligible to apply for part-time work at the University through the Work-Study Program. This program and other work opportunities are made available through the Career Centre on campus.
