Students receive ongoing verbal formative feedback about their performance through both regularly scheduled and spontaneous feedback sessions with their preceptor(s), clients, team members, and others. Formal evaluation occurs both at midterm and at the end of the placement with the completion of the Occupational Therapy Fieldwork Assessment in Canada (OT-FAC).
An electronic copy of the OT-FAC will be made available to students and preceptors via InPlace within the first 10 days of each fieldwork course. The OT-FAC will be completed at both the midterm point of placement and at the end of placement, by inputting comments and scores for each competency domain.
The Introduction to Fieldwork experience and each fieldwork course (Fieldwork 1 through 4) include additional requirements of completion and these are outlined in the respective course outlines. Students are expected to complete these additional requirements (e.g., Introduction email to site and preceptor, site and program onboarding requirements, self-assessment using the OT-FAC, Learning Objectives Form, Student Report on Fieldwork, Fieldwork Record Tool) prior to the date that course marks are due. Performance in fieldwork courses are measured with pass or fail criteria, and the student grade report/transcript will show either Credit (CR) or No Credit (NCR), or under specific extenuating circumstances, Standing Deferred (SDF) or No Credit (NCR), or Withdrawal without Academic Penalty (WDR).
