Community of Support for Prospective OT Students

Improving representation in Occupational Therapy

This program offers support for undergraduates or graduate students interested in pursuing a career in occupational therapy and who identify as Black and/or Indigenous, 2SLGBTQ+, disabled, and/or other historically marginalized groups.

Mentorship is provided by current U of T OT students in their first and second year who have gone through the MScOT program application process. Mentors can support people who are interested in becoming an occupational therapist in a variety of ways. Support includes assistance with:

  • reviewing application packages (e.g., curriculum vitae, personal statements).
  • supporting applicants with the CASPer test.
  • linking applicants with other occupational therapists whose practice areas may match the student’s interests and provide exposure to the profession of occupational therapy.
  • informing and facilitating connections for students with any available occupational science/therapy research opportunities.
  • introducing students to relevant faculty and occupational therapy students.
  • helping to connect students with volunteer opportunities in health-related fields.
