Fieldwork Placement Coding

Each fieldwork placement is coded upon submission by the site coordinator using the Placement Offers Coding Sheet.

Placements are also coded as in-person, virtual or hybrid. Students will have at least 50% of their fieldwork learning in-person.

Requesting a Change in Placement Coding

If a student wishes to request a change in coding for any of their placements, they must email the Fieldwork Course Instructor, copying their preceptor, giving details about caseload and assessments and treatments administered. Requests must be submitted no later than one week after completion of the placement. The request must be verified by the preceptor and on-site fieldwork coordinator. A final decision regarding coding will be made by the University Fieldwork Instructor and communicated to the student. Electronic fieldwork records regarding the placement will be changed as indicated.

Fieldwork Placement Codes

Using InPlace

The department uses an online fieldwork management system called InPlace. Each student will have their own login and password for InPlace.

Students will use InPlace to submit their fieldwork placement preferences, share information with fieldwork team to inform the placement matching process, submit learning objectives for review by preceptors, submit self-assessment on the CBFE-OT at midterm and final and complete, share and submit an evaluation of the learning experience at the placement through the Student Report on Fieldwork.

InPlace Access for Students

Access InPlace using your internet browser. Select Staff and Students. You will then be directed to a single sign-on page to enter your UTORid and password.

Fieldwork Matches Using InPlace

The department uses two different methods for fieldwork matches depending on the fieldwork course.

1. Placement Manager:

  • Used for Introduction to Fieldwork and Fieldwork 1

  • Allows department to match students to agencies who have submitted offers

2. Opportunities:

  • Used for Fieldwork 2, 3, 4

  • Allows department to match students to specific offers that agencies have submitted
