Professor M. Shone Joos, MSc, OT Reg. (Ont.) has worked as a clinician, educator, researcher, and OT practice leader in both rehabilitation hospital and community settings, providing services to infants, children and teens. She also operated her private practice for nearly 20 years. Professor Joos' additional training includes Emotion-Focused Family Therapy, the CO-OP Approach, and Solution-Focused Coaching. She has a Certificate in Effective Teaching Practice Framework from the Association of College and University Educators (ACUE) and has completed the ENVISAGE (Enabling Visions and Growing Expectations) for Service Providers Certificate. In 2023, she was honoured with the Temerty Award for Excellence in Professional Values.

Areas of Research / Educational Scholarship

Professor Joos' professional interests encompass private practice, telepractice, mentorship, collaborative intraprofessional and interprofessional practice, simulation and the use of AI in OT education. She is leading research projects evaluating the use of simulation for developing clinical skills in OT education, as well as exploring mentorship in the OT and the development of professional identity.
