Areas of Research / Educational Scholarship

Dr. Friedland's early research dealt with social support as a mediator against depression following strokes, and effects on quality of life for those with HIV/AIDS. She has examined relationships among function, including return to work, post-traumatic stress and mild head injury following motor vehicle accidents. As an educator, she has examined issues related to curriculum, fieldwork, and more recently, the mental health of university students. Her focus on the early history of Canadian occupational therapy allowed her to write about individuals, institutions, and the profession.
