This award was established by her family in memory of Yassi (Yassaman) Salehi, who was a Class of 2020 MScOT graduate and successfully completed the national exam. Yassi sadly passed away from a car accident in January 2021. This award is presented to a graduating MScOT student who exemplifies the qualities of Yassi: high academic standing, involvement in committees or student affairs, and demonstrated kindness and compassion for others. The first award will be presented at the Department of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy Convocation Awards Ceremony in November 2021, and will be awarded thereafter in perpetuity, annually, to a graduating student. On behalf of the faculty, staff, and students, the Department wishes to thank the Salehi family for their generosity, and we are honoured to have the opportunity to cherish Yassi’s legacy at our most important student event of the year.
