Welcome Hardeep Singh and Paula Rowland to new appointments

The Department of Occupational Science & Occupational Therapy is pleased to welcome Hardeep Singh and Paula Rowland to new appointments.

Hardeep Singh has accepted the position of Assistant Professor (Tenure Stream) in our department. Prof. Singh has previously held the March of Dimes Canada Paul J.J. Martin Early Career Professorship. Her research aims to support the design and delivery of equity-informed rehabilitation and community reintegration services, including tele/virtual care interventions designed to support the health and wellbeing of individuals living in the community with stroke.  

She is also the recipient of the New Investigator Award from the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada for her research, Co-creating a framework to effectively tailor stroke care with multiple stakeholders.  

Prof. Singh will begin her new role April 1, 2025. 

Paula Rowland has been appointed to the position of Assistant Professor (Tenure Stream) in our department. Prof. Rowland brings a multitude of experience to the department, having started her career as an occupational therapist working with children and adults.   

She completed her PhD in Organizational Studies in 2013 and has since worked with the Office of the Vice Dean, Medical Education in the Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto as a Wilson Centre Scientist. Her research interests are in the social science of improvement efforts in healthcare organizations, focusing on implications for healthcare work and workers.   

Her recent research publications include the articles Sociotechnical imaginaries in academic medicine strategic planning: A document analysis, an examination of visions of increasingly digitized healthcare work and Exploring meanings of expert and expertise in patient engagement activities: A qualitative analysis of a pan-Canadian survey, a sociological analysis of the politics of expertise and implications for engagement practices.  

Prof. Rowland will begin her new role July 1, 2025.
