Helene J Polatajko

Dr. Helene Polatajko, PhD, OT(C),  FCAOT, FCAHS, LLD(h.c.), OC,  is an internationally respected occupational therapy scholar and teacher and a valued mentor. She has well over 300 publications, has done over 550 presentations in more than 20 countries, and prominent among her contributions are co-authorship on the internationally acclaimed Canadian Occupational Performance Measure and the two Enabling Occupation books. Dr. Polatajko has been granted numerous top awards and distinctions including the Muriel Driver Lectureship, being named as a Fellow to the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences, and being made an Officer of the Order of Canada.

Areas of Research / Educational Scholarship

Dr. Polatajko's research has focused on measurement and intervention. Both the measures she has been instrumental in creating, e.g., The COPM, P-ACS and PQRS, and the intervention approaches she has researched,  e.g.,  Sensory Integration, Process Oriented Approaches and CO-OP have had a major impact in the field!  Her primary focus in terms populations has been DCD, where she is recognized as an international expert.
