Dr. Christie Welch PhD, OT Reg. (Ont.) is a registered Occupational Therapist who has been practicing since 2001. Her clinical background includes adult and child mental health, neurorehabilitation, and general pediatrics. Dr. Welch also has experience in hospital leadership.

Areas of Research / Educational Scholarship

Dr. Welch completed a PhD in Rehabilitation Science at the University of Toronto and a postdoctoral fellowship at the Bloorview Research Institute. Her research strives to advance an understanding of autism that is based on the perspectives of people who identify as autistic. Within this, she has focused on movement control as well as other embodied elements of autism including experiences identified as important by autistic people; specifically, burnout, inertia, meltdown, and shutdown.
