OS&OT Students Place in Top 3 at RESNA

Congratulations to OT Year 2 students (from left to right): Fiana Lu, Rachel Emonts, Patricia (Bo-Ran) Han, Janis (Yuet Ching) Law, and Alicja Mazierska for placing third at the RESNA Student Design Competition! The RESNA Student Design Competition is an “annual competition that showcases creative and innovative assistive technology designs that help people with disabilities function more independently.” The group was selected as one of the top 6 finalists amongst over 90 international submissions to represent and showcase their technology at a 4-day conference in Arlington, VA. Their submission, Peel Heel, is a pair of fashionable footwear designed for older adults who have difficulty putting on their shoes. Additionally, Patricia, Rachel and Janis were invited to attend the Techno Week at the U of T Impact Centre, a one-week entrepreneurial training program aimed towards assisting students interested in creating technology-based companies.
